How it actually works

It draws a QR code from your text or URL using a client-side QR library loaded from a CDN, then renders the modules onto a canvas you can download. Before encoding it lets you set the error-correction level - Low, Medium, Quartile or High, tolerating roughly seven, fifteen, twenty-five and thirty percent damage respectively - and the higher the level, the more redundancy is packed into the same code.

Size is a slider from one hundred to five hundred pixels, and both foreground and background colours are your choice, so the code can carry brand colours rather than only black on white. Because the picture is a canvas, the download button exports it as a PNG through the browser toDataURL, with no server involved.

The text you enter is encoded locally; it is not sent anywhere, so a private link or token can be turned into a code safely.

What that means for your results

The code follows the standard QR specification through the library, so any compliant scanner reads it, and the error-correction level is a real, named setting rather than a guess - you trade data capacity for how much damage the printed code can survive. Colour is applied across the module set so the pattern itself stays intact.

Where it falls short — honestly

Very long input or a high error-correction level makes a denser code that small printers and phone cameras struggle to scan, and low-contrast colour pairs, such as a pale foreground on white, can break what a scanner needs. The library is fetched from an external CDN, so that script must load, and it encodes data only - it cannot track scans or change a code once it is printed.

A real end-to-end workflow

Paste a URL or text, raise error correction if the code will be printed or handled, set a size your medium can show, pick a high-contrast colour pair, then download the PNG and test it with a real phone camera before publishing.
