Follow these simple steps to get the best results.

1

Paste your text

Type or paste the words you want read aloud; the whole passage is spoken as one continuous utterance.

2

Choose a voice and settings

Pick one of the preset language voices your browser offers, then set the speed, pitch and volume with the sliders.

3

Play it back

Press Speak to hear the text through your device voices, and use Stop or Pause to control playback. The speech plays live and is not saved as an audio file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Text To Speech.

The voices come from your own browser and operating system, so which ones you see depends on your device. The preset buttons aim at common Google voices for English, Spanish, French and German, and quality ranges from clear to slightly robotic.
Yes, control the rate, pitch, and volume of the spoken output.
No. This tool plays the voice live through the Web Speech API and does not record or export an audio file. You can copy the source text; to capture sound you would need separate system or screen recording.
No fixed limit is enforced by the page, but the whole passage is spoken as one continuous utterance, so very long text is easier to control if you break it into sections.
Because nothing is downloaded, there is no clip to drop straight into an editor. If you need the speech as a file, record it with your system audio capture and be transparent about the source.
Text-to-speech reads letters, not intent - numbers, acronyms, and names often need respelling phonetically to sound natural.
Voices rely on the browser speech engine; most modern systems cache them locally, but a connection may be needed the first time a voice loads.

About the Text To Speech Tool

ToolFlic Text-to-Speech speaks your pasted text out loud through the Web Speech API, using the voices installed on your own system or browser. It is handy for proofreading by ear, accessibility, or language practice. Pick a voice, set speed, pitch and volume, and press Speak; because the audio is played live, there is no file to download.

Core Advantages

Enhance accessibility and give yourself an alternative way to hear your writing, which is a simple way to spot awkward flow and repetition. It needs no software install or account, and no text is uploaded to ToolFlic servers.

Architecture & Security

It uses the browser native SpeechSynthesis API and SpeechSynthesisUtterance, mapping the speed, pitch and volume sliders to each utterance. Synthesis runs on your device, though some browser or operating-system voices may reach out to the platform own speech service to render audio.

Under the Hood: the Text To Speech explained properly

No marketing filler — just the mechanics, the trade-offs and the real limits, explained clearly.

How it actually works

It speaks text aloud through the browser Web Speech API. window.speechSynthesis is given a SpeechSynthesisUtterance holding your text, and the speed, pitch and volume sliders map directly onto the utterance rate, pitch and volume properties, while the language buttons pick a voice matched by name and language from the list synth.getVoices returns.

The voices are the ones installed on your own browser and operating system, so which you get, and how natural they sound, depends entirely on your device; the presets aim at common Google voices for English, Spanish, French and German. Playback can be spoken, stopped, paused and resumed, and the source text can be copied.

It is playback only: nothing is recorded or exported as an audio file, so there is no download, and depending on the browser a voice may use the platform own online speech service to render the sound.

What that means for your results

Because it rides the native engine there is nothing to install and no text is uploaded to ToolFlic, and rate, pitch and volume are real utterance settings, so the same text spoken twice at the same settings is identical. The honest trade-off is stated up front - this reads aloud, it does not hand you a clip.

Where it falls short — honestly

There is no audio file to download or drop into a video; to capture the speech you would have to record system audio separately. Voice availability and quality vary wildly between browsers and devices, and long passages are spoken as one continuous utterance, so very long text is easier to control in sections. Numbers, acronyms and names often need phonetic respelling to sound right.

A real end-to-end workflow

Paste text, pick a device voice, set a slightly slower rate for dense content, and use Speak with Stop or Pause to control it - a good way to proofread by ear or read a page aloud. To do the reverse and turn speech into text, Audio to Text listens to your microphone; to reshape the wording first, Grammar Checker helps.
